With a foreword by Peter Rawlik, and illustrated by K. L. Turner, Through the Gate of Deeper Slumber presents the thirteen stories that encompass Lovecraft’s Dreamlands.  This collection begins with Polaris, Lovecraft’s first foray into dream, in which the author begins to develop the landscape of the Dreamlands and the rules to which Great Dreamers are subject.  The stories that follow represent years of Lovecraft’s imaginings as he further defines not only the geography of dream, but its inhabitants, its gods and monsters, and the eldritch terrors that haunt its edges.  Included are the hauntingly beautiful Celephais, the nihilistic Ex Oblivione, the iconic The Cats of Ulthar, and the highly influential The Strange High House in the Mist, and of course three tales of the Great Dreamer Randolph Carter stories; The Silver Key, full of the melancholy of a man who has lost his dreams, the genre-defining The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath, and the genre-bending Through the Gates of the Silver Key.  Through the Gates of Deeper Slumber represents a triumph of Lovecraft’s fantastic imaginings.
